High
dynamic range shutter plates:
These are neutral colour shutter/dimmer plates made with a
varying dot pattern.
The dot pattern is created by dedicated rastering software
to obtain an accurate and high dynamic range, up to 16-bit
resolution.
The standard dynamic range is from 0.005% to 92.5%, which is
the transmission limit of the glass.
Intensity resolution is 0.002%.
The high dynamic range allows precise light intensity
control, especially in the low intensity range near zero.
The dot pitch is varies dependent on the selected dynamic
range
This feature allows to install the shutter much closer to
the focal plane than other shutter systems.
Optionally we can make the dimmer plate with a stochastic
pattern to reduce moiré effects.
In this case dot size can be chosen for the optimum balance
between dynamic range and diffraction.
The plates have a good batch to batch consistency.
Because these shutters are of the reflective type, little
light energy is absorbed in the shutter making it compatible
with high-power lamps
These can be made in any shape up to 125x220mm
The standard coating is medium matted aluminium, other
coatings are available upon request
Standard substrate glass is Schott Borofloat33 thickness
1.1mm.
Other substrate glass and other glass thickness is available
upon request.
Applications: theatre lighting, automated lighting,
scientific instruments.
Because of the nature of the substrate glass, transmission
is limited to 92.5%
This can be increased to >97% by applying double sides MgF2
broadband AR layers.
Another option is to use the shutter in such a way that it
is pulled outside the light path for full transmission.
In that case there will be no obstruction left.
The curve can be linear, x^n, exponentional, or any other
mathematical function.
The plate can have a separate track in the image, allowing
for indexing to determine the absolute position.
